Abstract:This chapter describes presentations in pain medicine which are caused by a mixture of nociceptive, neuropathic, and visceral mechanisms. These include acute pain in surgical and non-surgical patients, chronic post-surgical pain, erythromelalgia, headaches, human immunodeficiency virus, orofacial pain, the specifics of paediatric pain and pain in the elderly, pain related to sickle cell disease, and vascular insufficiency pain.
