Valentini et al showed that diabetics have higher plasma OPG concentrations and a lower RANKL/OPG ratio compared to non-diabetics, with OPG levels directly correlating with HbA1c levels [ 17 ]. In order to have a more complete image of the bone remodeling dynamics, OPG/RANKL ratio was also analyzed, and we observed that the initial value was significantly higher in DM group compared to C; post-extraction, the value was reduced for both groups, especially in the systemically affected group.…”
