The cortical bone rich regions which is included in the ROI measurements does not suffer such a dramatic loss in the early post OVX [19,20]. It is well documented that estrogen deficiency in rats leads to permanent and significant loss of trabecular bone in only two weeks time [14,19]. Indeed, in our experiment the BMD values obtained from the tibias showed that the strong counter acting effect of AP on bone loss at three months was observed at the trabecular compartments of the proximal tibia.…”
