Resumo A produção de partículas em experimentos de colisões entre prótons fornece informações fundamentais dos mecanismos de conversão da energia inicial dos prótons num determinado número de partículas secundárias através da medida de sua Distribuição de Multiplicidade em interações nucleares fortes. Nesse contexto o Modelo Binomial Negativo tem sido extensivamente utilizado em estudos teóricos e em parametrizações das informações experimentais tornando-se, portanto, importante o conhecimento das hipóteses envolvidas na elaboração do modelo, de forma a propiciar adequada aplicação e interpretação de resultados. Efetuamos assim uma discussão do Modelo Binomial Negativo baseando-se na realização de um experimento aleatório clássico, que conduz e auxilia na obtenção da expressão analítica da Função de Probabilidade. Expressamos ainda a referida Função de Probabilidade em termos da Função Gama, da variável multiplicidade e da multiplicidade média adotando um procedimento matemático não encontrado na literatura específica. Implicações da aplicação do modelo no estudo de Distribuições de Multiplicidades em colisões entre prótons são discutidas.

The unitarity of the S-matrix requires that the absorptive part of the elastic scattering amplitude receives contributions from both the inelastic and the elastic channels. We explore this unitarity condition in order to describe, in a connected way, hadron-hadron observables like the total and elastic differential cross sections, the ratio of the real to imaginary part of the forward scattering amplitude and the inclusive multiplicity distributions in full phase space, over a large range of energies. We introduce non-perturbative QCD effects in the forward scattering amplitude by using the infrared QCD effective charge dependent on the dynamical gluon mass. In our analysis we pay special attention to the theoretical uncertainties in the predictions due to this mass scale variation. We also present quantitative predictions for the H q moments at high energies. Our results reproduce the moment oscillations observed in experimental data, and are consistent with the behavior predicted by QCD.

We investigated the energy dependence of the parton-parton inelastic cross sections, partonparton inelastic overlap functions and the C q moments in proton interactions from √ s= 10 to 14000 GeV . The used approach is based on a phenomenological procedure where elastic and inelastic proton observables are described in a connected way by exploring the unitarity of S-Matrix. Applying a Quantum Chromodynamics inspired eikonal model, that contains contributions of the quark-quark, quark-gluon and gluon-gluon interactions, theoretical predictions on inelastic cross sections and C q moments are compared with measurements showing successfully description of the experimental data. The KNO hypothesis violation is discussed as a consequence of the semihard contribution to the multiparticle production in the interactions, in accordance to several experimental and theoretical previous results. Prediction to the ratio σ el /σ tot as a function of the collision energy is presented and also compared with the experimental information.
