Abstract. This study aims to measure inflation impact on income inequality, characterized by Gini index. To do this, a panel of 41 countries and annual data from 2004 to 2013 is used. Linear models in which inflation can explain income inequality are expected by controlling the existence of countries fixed effects and including time dummies. The results indicate that there is no positive correlation between the variables, as found in previous studies that used cross section data and, taking into account the methodology used in the models, the relation between inflation and income inequality is not robust, nor there is any randomness between variables. In this sense, conforming to the research method and data used, it is not possible to change an income inequality pattern only controlling inflation. Os impactos da inflação na desigualdade de renda
