“…The application of knee orthoses or sleeves after anterior cruciate ligament injury and surgery has been met with inconsistent improvement in proprioception . Stifle orthoses have been proposed to improve limb use in CCL deficient dogs by limiting flexion of the stifle, thereby forcing weight bearing, or by providing support during stifle extension . Our study detected minimal differences in the braced stifle of normal dogs, limited to some restriction in stifle extension at the end of stance.…”

“…The use of stifle orthoses (braces) is gaining popularity in dogs as a result part of an increased interest in post‐surgical rehabilitation as well as conservative treatment options for patients that are surgical candidates. However, scientific literature on orthoses is limited in dogs, consisting essentially of case reports or case series about carpal or tarsal orthoses, and review articles . A small retrospective case series recently reported on paw pressure in dogs wearing stifle orthoses, but no studies have been published on the effect of any orthoses on joint motion in dogs.…”

“…Prosthetics has been an evolving field in canine rehabilitation, and socket prostheses have been a more viable treatment option for distal limb pathologies including amputation (2). Wendland et al performed a multi-center study evaluating owner satisfaction with socket prosthesis use in dogs.…”

“…The use of socket prostheses for companion animals is emerging as a more common treatment in the field of veterinary medicine (1, 2). Due to their growing prevalence and potential to change current practices in veterinary medicine, it is crucial to objectively assess the value and efficacy of socket prosthetics as a treatment option for distal limb pathology in veterinary patients.…”
