Abstract:G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are integral membrane proteins that mediate signals to the interior of the cell via activation of heterotrimeric G proteins, which subsequently interact with and activate various effector proteins, ultimately resulting in a physiological response. GPCRs are involved in a number of behaviours, and have been implicated in such processes as drug addiction and neuropsychiatric diseases. To further our understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved beyond the known GPCR-endog… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
