Orofaziale Spaltbildungen

Abstract: Orofacial clefts are one of the most common birth defects in humans with a prevalence of 1:700. Nonsyndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate or isolated cleft palate show an incomplete separation of the oral cavity and the nasal space without any additional malformations. Beside complete cleft palate also submucous celft palates exist that are hidden below the intact mucosa. The aetiology of celfts is a complex interaction between environmental and genetic factors. Orofacial clefts cause many complicati… Show more

“…Es sind die häufigsten Fehlbildungen des Kopf-und Halsbereiches [20,21]. Die Prävalenz liegt bei 9,92-14,29/10 000 Geborene [18,22]. Zu den Risikofaktoren zählen unter anderem wieder ein Folsäuremangel während der Schwangerschaft, genetische Disposition, das Alter der Mutter ( > 40 Jahre), die Einnahme von Vitamin A oder Antikonvulsiva während der Schwangerschaft [19,20].…”

“…Non-syndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate or isolated cleft palate display a partial separation of the oral cavity and the nasal space without any extra malformations. Beside complete cleft palate also sub-mucous cleft palates occur that are concealed underneath the intact mucosa [4]. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has estimated that, each year in the United States, about 2,650 babies are born with a cleft palate and 4,440 babies are born with a cleft lip with or without a cleft palate [5].…”

“…The etiology of clefts is a multifarious interaction between environmental and genetic factors [4]. Based on epidemiological and embryological data, cleft lip and/or palate and cleft palate are considered distinct forms of orofacial clefting [9].…”
