With the ubiquity of parallel commodity hardware, developers turn to high-level concurrency models such as the actor model to lower the complexity of concurrent software. However, debugging concurrent software is hard, especially for concurrency models with a limited set of supporting tools. Such tools often deal only with the underlying threads and locks, which obscures the view on e.g. actors and messages and thereby introduces additional complexity.To improve on this situation, we present a low-overhead record & replay approach for actor languages. It allows one to debug concurrency issues deterministically based on a previously recorded trace. Our evaluation shows that the average run-time overhead for tracing on benchmarks from the Savina suite is 10% (min. 0%, max. 20%). For Acme-Air, a modern web application, we see a maximum increase of 1% in latency for HTTP requests and about 1.4 MB/s of trace data. These results are a first step towards deterministic replay debugging of actor systems in production.

An important class of applications computes on long-running or infinite streams of data, often with known fixed data rates. The latter is referred to as synchronous data flow (SDF) streams. These stream applications need to run on clusters or the cloud due to the high performance requirement. Further, they require live reconfiguration and reoptimization for various reasons such as hardware maintenance, elastic computation, or to respond to fluctuations in resources or application workload. However, reconfiguration and reoptimization without downtime while accurately preserving program state in a distributed environment is difficult. In this paper, we introduce Gloss, a suite of compiler and runtime techniques for live reconfiguration of distributed stream programs. Gloss, for the first time, avoids periods of zero throughput during the reconfiguration of both stateless and stateful SDF based stream programs. Furthermore, unlike other systems, Gloss globally reoptimizes and completely recompiles the program during reconfiguration. This permits it to reoptimize the application for entirely new configurations that it may not have encountered before. All these Gloss operations happen in-situ, requiring no extra hardware resources. We show how Gloss allows stream programs to reconfigure and reoptimize with no downtime and minimal overhead, and demonstrate the wider applicability of it via a variety of experiments. in last decade, classic IT-infrastructures in modern enterprises have been changed sufficiently by cloud computing. However, cloud approach can be used effectively in other applications. In this paper, we explore applicability of cloud paradigm in mobile robotics. First approach is using some classic cloud architectures, such as Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service, with heterogeneous distributed mobile robotic system -for example, it can be used to offload a time consuming computations from mobile platforms to remote nodes or services. Second approach is using some special "robotic" types of clouds, such as Robot-as-aService and Function-as-a-Service to leverage abilities of a single robotics platform in mobile robotic system as services to robotic system's users or other mobile robotic platforms. We explore both approaches and give them some architectural examples.
