SUMMARY In a case‐control study of all cerebral palsy cases with moderates and serve spastic quadriplegia born between 1976 and 1985, males comprised three‐quarters of the cases and tended to have more sevre motor impairment than females. The majority of cases had multiple and serve disabilities, and 27 per cent had died by the time of data collection. There was an excess of low‐birthweight and preterm births compared with all live births in WA. An intrapartum casuse was considered possible in 18 of the 74 children; however, half of these had evidence of compromise before labour. I: Population exposée et facteurs de risqires périnataux Dans une étude cas‐contõde de tous les cas d'lMC avec quadriplégie spastique modérée ou sévère nés entre 1976 et 1985, les garçons représentaient trois quarts des cas, avec une tendance à une incapacité motrice plus sévère que chez les filles. La majorité des cas présentaient des incapacités multiples et graves, et 27 pour cent des cas étaient décédés au moment du recueil des données. I: Kasuistik und perinatale Risikofaktoren In einer Kontrollstudie alter Cerebralparesefälle mit mittelschwerer und schwerer spastischer Tetraplegie, die in den Jahren von 1976 bis 1985 geboren wurden, fand sich, daβ zwei Drittel der Patienten Jungen waren und daβ diese häufiger stärkere motorische Störungen hatten als die Mädchen. Die Mehrzahl der Fälle hatte multiple und schwere Behinderungen und 27 Prozent waren zum Zeitpunkt der Datenerhebung bereits gestorben. Im Vergleich zu allen Lebendgeburten in WA fanden sich bei diesen Kindern vermehrt niedrige Geburtsgewichte und Frühgeburten. Bei 18 der 74 Kinder wurde von zwei unabhängigen Untersuchern eine Entstehung unter der Geburt fúr wahrscheinlich gehalten, bei der Hàlfte dieser Kinder bestanden jedoch schon vor Einsetzen der Wehen Hinweise für eine Gefährdung.
