Organometallic chemistry of metal surfaces ‐ ultra high vacuum studies

Abstract: The effect of one type of molecule on another for chemisorption states on a platinum (111) surface is described. This effect was assayed from chemical displacement and thermal desorption experiments.Molecules studied in this fashion included CH 3 CN, CH 3 NC, CSHSN, P(CH 3 )3' CO, PF 3 , C 6 H 6 , and C 2 H 4 . The chemistry of Pt(1ll) is generally distinct from that of Ni(lll) in both a qualitative and quantitative fashion.
