This study builds on social-constructionist approaches to organizational memory studies by exploring how traumatic memories reconstruct present-day organizing practices. Using African feminist ethnography, I explored how war memories shaped market women's informal credit organizations called 'susu groups' in postconflict Liberia. Findings show that traumatic memories engender and sustain three organizing practices: idealization, amplification, and contraction. Idealization is the projection of an ideal type of organization after traumatic events have occurred. This practice enables members to suppress a painful past and start anew by collectively reinventing their organization. Amplification is the intensification of certain elements, which become the most important in the organizing process. Amplification can make negative experiences resonate more deeply than positive ones. Contraction is the propensity of organizations to close off from the outside world after trauma. In the case of susu groups, contraction accentuated an existing tendency toward secrecy. The study contributes to intersections of organizational memory studies and trauma and organizing scholarship by showing how memories linger and continue to shape organizations long after trauma.

ÖzÖrgütler duygular, kişilik, bilinçaltı faktörler, geçmiş yaşantılar, değerler, algılama farklılıkları gibi karmaşık birçok faktörün etkisiyle karar veren yönetici ve çalışan üyelerden oluşan sosyal sistemlerdir. Yönetim literatürünün örgütleri "rasyonel" olarak ele alan yaklaşımlarının aksine örgütteki bireyler her zaman rasyonel değildir. Örgütlerde problemlerin anlaşılarak çözüm aranması sürecinde psikanaliz ve psikoteknik yöntemlerin kullanılması, örgütsel hayatın sağlıklı bir şekilde devam etmesi için derinde yatan bilinçdışı unsurların anlaşılmasını sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmada örgütlerin analizinde farklı bir yaklaşım olarak ortaya çıkan psikanalitik ve klinik yöntemlerle ilgili bir literatür çalışması yapılmıştır. Örgütsel teşhise ilişkin bu farklı yaklaşımların ve müdahale stratejilerinin genel çerçevesi çizilerek örgütlerdeki irrasyonel eğilimlerin açığa çıkarılması amaçlanmaktadır. On the contrary of management literature's approaches that are taking organizations as 'rational', people of the organization are not always rational. At the solution seeking process of problems in the organizations the deep and unconscious elements of organizations become more understandable in terms of providing healthy organizational life by using psychoanalysis and psychotechnic methods. Throughout this study a literature review about the psychoanalytic and clinical methods has been generated as a different approach, Within this context, revealing of the irrational tendencies in the organizations is being aimed by drawing a general frame related to these different approaches and intervention strategies.

Over the past 15 years, an increasing number of researchers have become aware of what the French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan's work can contribute to management and organization studies. The number of publications on the subject has significantly risen, at the risk of leading to some apparent heterogeneity of the topics covered and a potential distortion of the Lacanian concepts when used in management and organization studies. In this article, we aim to map this emerging field of research, bring to light the theoretical basis common to those works so as to make the Lacanian theory used to study management and organization more legible, and discuss the limitations and opportunities implied by such a Lacanian approach. We organize the published works around two main orientations, each helping to address specific issues: a clinical orientation, within organizational psycho-dynamics, and a critical orientation, related to critical management studies. A more visible and structured expression of this interest in In this respect, the purpose of this paper is threefold. Firstly, we aim to review most of the publications which, in the last twenty years, have revolved around Lacan and organizations. This will enable us to identify the various areas of inquiry linking these works, so as to map this emerging field of research, without forcing it into a rigid and ostensibly orderly representation (Contu et al., 2010;Jones, 2010).The task here is to develop around Lacan, what has already been developed in the field of organizational psychoanalysis around Freud and the post Freudians (Carr, 2002;Carr and Gabriel, 2001). Secondly, when reviewing this fairly recent literature, we intend to show why and how Lacanian concepts may be useful in exploring various theoretical perspectives and new ways of approaching practical issues in MOS. Thirdly, we propose to organize Lacan-inspired research around two major orientations that developed in distinct academic fields and with different objectives (Butler, 2008) despite some citation overlaps between both entities: the first orientation, of a clinical nature, pertains to organizational psycho-dynamics; the second, qualified as critical, relates to critical management studies (CMS).
