Organisation Modelling for the Dynamics of Complex Biological Processes

Abstract: This paper presents two experiments that contribute to the comparison of human-versus computer behaviour in the domain of multi-issue negotiation. The experiments are part of an ongoing endeavour of improving the quality of computer negotiators when negotiating against human negotiators. The validity of the experiments was tested in a case study of closed multi-issue negotiation involving the ABMP negotiation software agents. The results indeed reveal a number of strengths and weaknesses of the ABMP agents. Fo… Show more

“…In addition, in the current section it will be shown to what extent the approach can be generalised to other biological domains. To this end, we refer to the work in [6]. In that paper, the organisation of the circulatory system in mammals was addressed using the modelling approach based on AGR.…”

“…In [6], the circulatory system is modelled from an organisational perspective, according to the approach based on AGR. Following this approach, at the top level the system can be seen as one component.…”

“…Still, there is an agent-based simulation toolkit, Swarm [18], available for generic simulation of ecosystems and similar systems, using emergent dynamics. Recently there have also been efforts [6] at modeling circulatory systems as an emergent phenomenon. Moreover, Baverstock [4] concluded that the very fabric of life, genomic stability, is better understood as an emergent phenomenon.…”
