Organic–inorganic hybrid catalysts containing new Schiff base for environment friendly cyclohexane oxidation

Abstract: Organic and inorganic entities have been hybridized using 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) linker for the synthesis of three novel organic–inorganic hybrid catalysts [Cu(ii), Co(ii) and Ni(ii)].

“…3(a) . The addition of metal nitrate salts to the SBL affects the structural organization of metal complexes and shifts the wavenumber regions toward higher wavenumbers 49 , 50 . For instance, the absorption bands of the metal complexes, SBLPr, SBLEr, and SBLYb, are shifted to higher wavenumbers than those of the SBL (i.e., 1661, 1660, and 1662 cm −1 , respectively) in the spectra.…”

“…In addition, the amine (‐NH 2 ) group of corresponding amino acid coordinates to the metal ion which is confirmed by appearance of peaks in between the range of 3000‐3270 cm ‐1 . It signifies the incorporation of histidine to the synthesized complexes . The formations of M‐N and M‐O bonds are established by the existence of new peaks appeared at around 447‐476 cm ‐1 and 515‐536 cm ‐1 due to the coordination of nitrogen and oxygen atom of the ligand to the metal ion.…”

“…Interestingly, a few FSs, known as the famous heterogeneous organocatalysts, do not need the metal active sites to demonstrate the catalytic activity in certain reactions like esterification . Being the organic‐inorganic hybrids, FSs could combine the benefits of homogeneous (accessibility of all the active sites) and heterogeneous catalysis (reusability of the active sites) . Functionalization has been mostly executed on SBA‐15 than the rest of the silicas due to its stability and dual porosity (mesopores and intra‐wall ultra‐super micropores or secondary mesopores) .…”
