Organic Electro‐optic Single‐ Crystalline Thin Films Grown Directly on Modified Amorphous Substrates

Abstract: High quality organic electro‐optic single crystalline thin films are produced on amorphous C≡N‐modified glass substrates (see figure), which is a mimic surface of a crystal, by slow evaporation and capillary methods. The films have a suitable size (shaped as rectangular plates with side lengths in the range of 5–10 mm and regular thicknesses in the range of 1–40 μm) for the fabrication of photonic devices.

“…The color of the single‐crystal microwire arrays changes uniformly under crosspolarizers. This confirms the single crystal structure and the anisotropic crystalline nature of the oriented single‐crystal microwire arrays . Figure a 4 –d 4 , respectively, shows the atomic force microscopy (AFM) images of the TIPS‐pentacene single‐crystal microwire arrays on the different dielectrics.…”

“…In experimental studies, a wide variety of D–A‐substituted oligoenes have been prepared to investigate their second‐order NLO behavior 2630. The second‐order NLO properties of D–A oligoynes have also been reported 31–33.…”

“…In addition, along every individual microwire the color is uniform under a fixed polarization angle. These results indicate the anisotropic crystalline nature of the oriented microwire arrays and the single-crystal structure of an individual microwire caused by the molecular packing [23][24][25].
