“…22) with certainty level C (table 2). As described by Bergendahl and Koschmann (1971), garnet, epidote, chlorite, biotite, and sericite occur throughout this area as aggregates, replacement masses, disseminations, and fissure fillings in sedimentary rocks; calcite, wollastonite, and hornblende were also noted (Koschmann and Wells, 1946). Molybdenite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, magnetite, and specular hematite are disseminated in the alteration zone adjacent to small igneous bodies in limestones of the Maroon and Minturn Formations.…”

“…Veins are present and are of local economic interest, but replacement deposits are the major type of deposit in these two districts. Producing veins contain lead, silver, zinc, and gold and are found in the Maroon Formation, Laramide or younger intrusives, and Proterozoic metamorphic rocks (Bergendahl and Koschmann, 1971). This area has a high potential for small deposits of base and precious metals in veins (pi.…”

“…The Kokomo-Tenmile district, adjacent to and partly within the western part of the study area, produced gold, silver, lead, zinc, and copper from replacement deposits in the Late Paleozoic carbonates in the Kokomo-Tenmile district. Some molybdenum is also present (Bergendahl and Koschmann, 1971). …”

“…The area consists of Paleozoic sedimentary rocks intruded by Tertiary quartz monzonite, with minor outcrops of Precambrian gneisses in the northeastern corner of the study area (Bergendahl and Koschmann, 1971;Tweto and others, 1978). The eastern half of the study area is in the Kokomo-Tenmile district, which has produced significant amounts of silver, lead, zinc, copper, and gold from replacement deposits in limestone beds in the Pennsylvanian Minturn Formation (Bergendahl and Koschmann, 1971). South of the study area several miles is the Climax district where molybdenum has been produced from a stockwork porphyry deposit near Fremont Pass .…”
