Options for maintaining fishery production in the United Arab Emirates due to climate change adaptation strategies

Abstract: Fisheries around the world continue to face high demand for more fish to catch in order to offer a healthier alternative source of protein. This is mostly due to the declining global wild fish stock. The United Arab Emirates (UAE), similar to many other countries, has witnessed declining per capita fish availability in the last three decades due to such decreasing fish catch. The goal of this research is to study the benefits and socio-economic implication of adopting sustainable practices in face of climatic … Show more

“…This framework can make better use of knowledge and achieve the greatest degree of knowledge sharing in different algorithms. By using knowledge reasoning, existing knowledge can be used to generate new knowledge, and new target recognition task can be completed without designing new algorithm [26][27][28][29][30].…”

“…Sixty years later, fisheries continue to be an important domestic source of food production, 27 even though the overall amount of fish caught significantly declined to 75 287 tonnes in 2017. 28 Remarkably, one of the reasons explaining the 24% decline in UAE's fishing between 1999 when it was estimated at 118 000 tons (with 7681 fishing boats registered) and 2008 when it reached 90 000 t (with 5571 fishing boats) was the high cost of diesel fuel which led "fishermen to reduce their trips to avoid costs."…”
