Optimum stacking sequences for extension–twist coupled composites subject to thermal stresses

Abstract: Optimum stacking sequences for extension-twist coupled composites under thermal stresses are determined. An optimization technique is utilized to determine the optimum stacking sequences. An alternative method is developed based on the identification of a parameter controlling the optimum stacking sequence. Comparison of associated extension-twist coupling values demonstrates their accuracy. It is observed that as the number of plies increases, the optimum stacking sequence follows an asymptotic behavior and t… Show more

In some of the studies, 49,50,61,84,91,132,137,138,141,153,165,181,182,193,215,216,224,297,352,450,500,584,614,654,657,711,784,805,806,811,821,826,849,882,1005 unsymmetrical laminates were considered. In many of the studies, laminates are prescribed to be balanced to prevent shear–extension coupling.…”
