Optimizing the Treatment of Oil-Containing Wastewater with “Catan” Type Catalysts

Abstract: This work studies the effects of “Catan” type heterogeneous metal complex catalysts on the treatment of oil-containing water with active sludge. Both studied catalysts, but primarily catalyst 525, were able to eliminate oil from standard and real wastewater even without active sludge. The catalyst 525 and catalyst 524 also reduced the chemical oxygen demand (COD) in the oil-containing wastewater.
