Abstract:Piezoelectric microactuators have been widely used for actuation, sensing, and energy harvesting. While out-of-plane piezoelectric configurations are well established, both in-plane deflection and asymmetric electrode placement have been underexplored in terms of actuation efficiency. This study explores the impact of asymmetric electrode geometry on the performance of slender unimorph actuators that deflect in-plane, where actuator length is much larger than width or thickness. After validating the finite ele… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
