“…The P. brasiliense HF was tested for inhibitory activity against growth of five strains of biofilm‐forming marine bacteria (Bressy et al. ) obtained from the collection of the University of Portsmouth (School of Biological Sciences): Halomonas marina (ATCC 25374), Polaribacter irgensii (ATCC 700398), Pseudoalteromonas elyakovii (ATCC 700519), Shewanella putrefaciens (ATCC 8071), and Vibrio aestuarianus (ATCC 35048). Each treatment condition and control (culture media) was replicated six times.…”

“…Despite the importance of copolymerizations via the RDRP, fundamental copolymerization kinetic studies on such functional monomers mentioned above have not been investigated thoroughly. In fact, detailed copolymerization kinetics provides significant information on the reactivities of monomers and activated species, and ultimately on the copolymer composition and chain structure which can affect the final properties . Rather, we often refer the kinetics studies conducted by conventional free radical polymerization to predict the reactivities of reactants and structure and properties of copolymers synthesized via the RDRPs .…”

“…Copolymers based on hydrolysable poly(tert-butyldimethylsilyl methacrylate), Pt-BDMSMA and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) were synthesized and studied to show that they can be used as polymer binders in self-polishing antifouling coatings. Nevertheless, a major drawback of the paint films made from these copolymers is that they are quite brittle due to their high glass transition temperatures (Tg, PMMA = 100-105 ºC, Tg, Pt-BDMSMA = 135-142 ºC) [5,6]. This causes an additional utilization of plasticizers, which results in cost increases and deterioration of certain physico-mechanical properties of paint films.…”
