Optimized multimodal biometric system based fusion technique for human identification

Abstract: This paper presents three novelty aspects in developing biometric system-based face recognition software for human identification applications. First, the computations cost is greatly reduced by eliminating the feature extraction phase and considering only the detected face features from the phase congruency. Secondly, a motivation towards applying a new technique, named mean-based training (MBT) is applied urgently to overcome the matching delay caused by the long feature vector. The last novelty aspect is ut… Show more

“…On the other hand, if the pixel intensity histogram is distributed throughout the histogram range, the image will have a higher contrast level. This indicator was used to assess the image enhancement methods, using a variety of illuminations for optimal performance [28], [85], [86], [105], [140], [166].…”

“…In contrast, a multispectral image is one that contains more than one spectral channel. A simple example of a multispectral image is a colour image which contains three channels, corresponding to the red, green and blue wavelength channels of the electromagnetic spectrum [89]- [105].…”

“…Furthermore, ECG signals are unique and can only be captured by direct physical contact, impenetrable from the outside and includes a liveness indication at the detection location [13]. As a result, in the future of biometric recognition, ECG-based biometrics have the potential to partially or entirely replace other existing biometrics such as vein [14][15][16], gait [17], face [18][19][20][21][22], fingerprint [23,24], and iris [25][26][27].…”
