Optimized congestion aware energy efficient traffic load balancing scheme for routing in wireless sensor networks

Abstract: Abstract-Load imbalance among hot spot nodes causes network congestion and earliest energy depletion of nodes in wireless sensor networks. This increases the probability of disconnecting or partitioning the network and premature death of entire network. The inefficiency in the WSN is more attributed to load imbalance or unbiased traffic. In this paper, an optimized congestion aware (OCAEE-LB) energy efficient traffic load balancing scheme for routing in WSN is proposed. The scheme utilizes the neglected inform… Show more

“…The minimum as well as the maximum congestion level of path (s, t1) is Qs itself which is zero as given by(16). Therefore, f(t1) = Qs = 0(17) This relation holds good even when we have a two hop path from s to t1 through an intermediate node i as shown inFigure 4. Here, we have two paths (s, t1) and (s, i, t1).…”

“…Some graph theory algorithms are applied to find the optimal routing structure. For example, some schemes calculate the weight with parameters such as residual energy [16], hop-count [17], transmission distance [18], throughput [19] and transmission power [20]. In [21], it divided the sensing area into several load-balanced blocks and introduced a Dijkstra algorithm [22] based energy-efficient routing strategy for the multi-hop transmissions.…”
