Optimized Building Automation and Control for The Improvement of Energy Efficiency and Climate Comfort Of Office Buildings

Abstract: The object of the examination is a typical office building of the 1990s, owned by a multinational company -Siemens- dedicated to energy awareness. The building also meets the energy efficiency category ‘A’ under the 7/2006 TNM Hungarian regulations concerning the energy performance definition of buildings. However, demand has emerged to implement additional changes to reduce energy usage whilst keeping the current climate comfort or even improving it. International experience forecasts around 30% energy saving… Show more

“…Today's most accurate and developed building design supporting tools are dynamic building physics simulations with significantly better and complex modeling of real physical systems than steady state calculations [1]. There are already ongoing research studies in Hungary about the energy performance and energy optimization potential of buildings, which use this different dynamic thermal building simulation methods, coupled with building monitoring measurements [2], [3], [4], [5]. Beside general…”

“…Energy efficiency, climate comfort, and evaluating actual building energy consumption have been studied significantly by different feasibility studies to provide perfect building patterns [3]. Construction engineering and many of such evaluation studies were performed on university buildings / campus to give additional academic vision value of applying energy management / efficiency concepts on construction [4].…”

“…Within the framework of the Hungarian Modern Cities Program, correlatively to the development of a new theoretical block of the Medical School (MS) of the University of Pécs (PTE) sketch plan decision support with building simulation was desired. Many studies investigate a wide range of diverse building optimization strategies with coupled simulation supported algorithms, whereas advanced investigations focus on building optimization using simulation coupled generative algorithms [1]- [8]. Case studies represent an important field among these optimization studies [9]- [15], providing useful COMFORT SIMULATION SUPPORTED SKETCH PLAN OPTIMIZATION 167 Pollack Periodica 15, 2020, 2 knowledge for building development.…”
