Preliminary notesIn this paper authors suggest and test evolutionary algorithm of multiple criteria solver (MCS) for asphalt supply chain optimization. On the basis of the defined imperfection of the basic mathematical model authors made an algorithm and conducted simulations of transportation problems cases generated from the given realistic input intervals in order to determine the constraints and possibilities for improvement of the original model of the transportation problem of large amounts of asphalt mixture. Results have shown that the suggested model verifies and eliminates the lack of the original model. As well, it is shown in which scenarios of transportation problem and to which extent the suggested methodology contributes to the total transportation costs savings and insurance of the program's optimality. Keywords: asphalt; chain of processes; optimization; simulation; transportation Metodologija i algoritam za optimizaciju lanca procesa transporta asfaltaPrethodno priopćenje U radu je predložen i testiran evolucijski algoritam za optimizaciju lanca procesa transporta asfaltne mješavine na gradilišta. Izrađen je algoritam (rješavatelj MCS) na temelju definiranog nedostatka postojećeg matematičkog modela te provedena simulacija slučajeva transportnog problema kako bi se utvrdila ograničenja i mogućnosti za poboljšanje originalnog modela za rješavanje transportnog problema velikih količina asfaltne mješavine. Rezultati su pokazali da predložen model pridruživanja i isključivanja potencijalnih izvora potvrđuje i otklanja nedostatak originalnog modela. Pokazano je i u kojim slučajevima transportnog problema i u kojoj mjeri predložena metodologija doprinosi uštedi i osiguranju optimalnosti ponuđenog programa.

Dr Ilana Ronen earned her PhD in Science Education from Tel-Aviv University. Following five years of biochemistry research focusing on bile acid synthesis and recovery of hepatic clearance in the rat liver, she began her educational career. She headed the excellent program and the Science specialization at Kibbutzim College of Education, Technology and Arts. She established communities of learners as part of service learning and led changes in the practice of pre-service students in line with the PDS model. As a member in the science faculty she is teaching physics and chemistry courses and supervising M.Ed students who conduct research in environmental education. Her research interests including alternative conceptions in science education; emergent knowledge in communities of learners; improving science education via professional development schools access; community service learning; collaborative learning; and ICT implementation in education.

A key issue in exponential smoothing is the choice of the values of the smoothing constants used.One approach that is becoming increasingly popular in introductory management science and operations management textbooks is the use of Solver, an Excel-based non-linear optimizer, to identify values of the smoothing constants that minimize a measure of forecast error like Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD) or Mean Squared Error (MSE).We point out some difficulties with this approach and suggest an easy fix. We examine the impact of initial forecasts on the smoothing constants and the idea of optimizing the initial forecast along with the smoothing constants.We make recommendations on the use of Solver in the context of the teaching of forecasting and suggest that there is a better method than Solver to identify the appropriate smoothing constants.
