Abstract:Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunts are fully implantable medical devices that are used to treat patients suffering from conditions characterized by elevated intracranial pressure, such as hydrocephalus. One of the primary causes of CSF shunt failure is mechanical obstruction of the ventricular catheter, a component of the shunt system implanted directly into the brain’s ventricular system. This study aims to characterize the CSF flow through ventricular catheters via a 3-dimensional computational fluid dynamics … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
