Optimization of Urban Selective Waste Collection Activity: Galati City Case Study

Abstract: The Waste Management activity (WM) is an urban action becoming more and more important in the municipal economy. In many cities, this activity is linked to significant revenues from the selective waste collection services. Because the current economic situation requires an increasing efficiency and profitability in order to succeed in cutting the operational costs, and as an important part of revenue comes from this selective waste collection activity, the effectiveness must be improved. In the specific case o… Show more

“…The temporal variability of soil moisture was also investigated. For this, we applied the Fourier series (Haidu 1997, Murariu et al 2015 and neural network fitting procedures (Puscasu et al 2009) to emphasise regularities and synchronisation between the measurement sets. This approach enabled us to evaluate the time delay between the moisture level time series for different depths (Sarah et al 2003).…”

“…The existence of a temporal lag between data sets regarding precipitation and soil moisture values at different depths has previously been studied, mainly with the use of Fourier series (Murariu et al 2015) or non-linear methods based on neural networks (Puscaus et al 2009). The lag between data sets is not the only aspect worth mentioning.…”

“…The disposal methods must be chosen taking into account several aspects: the environmental impact (including human health), economic costs, public perception problems (especially the smell of these sludges, etc.) [12,[17][18][19][20]. One of the valid solutions is the use of sludges in agriculture which implies a series of advantages among which natural nutrient intake, soil texture improvement and even water intake, if sludge distribution is performed before its drying.…”
