The precipitation of nano-sized Cr clusters was investigated in a commercial Cu-1Cr-0.1Zr (wt.%) alloy processed by equal-channel angular pressing and subsequent aging at 550 • C for 4 h using Small-Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS) measurements and High-Angle Annular Dark-Field-Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (HAADF-STEM). The size and volume fraction of the nano-sized Cr clusters were estimated using both techniques. The parameter values assessed by SANS (d ∼ 3.2 nm, Fv ∼ 1.1 %) agreed reasonably with those by HAADF-STEM (d ∼ 2.5 nm, Fv ∼ 2.3 %). In addition to the nano-sized Cr clusters, HAADF-STEM indicated the presence of rare cuboid and spheroid sub-micronic Cr particles measuring approximately 380-620 nm in mean size. Both techniques did not evidence the presence of intermetallic CuxZry phases within the aging conditions.

showed that the strength and microhardness of UFG Ti follow the conventional Hall-Petch relationship. [10] Several severe plastic deformation (SPD) techniques have been used to fabricate UFG samples, including Ti, such as highpressure torsion (HPT), [11-13] multidirectional forging, [14] friction stir welding, [15] equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP), [5,16,17] and special rolling technology. [18,19] It was reported that the strength of UFG Ti processed by HPT reached %1200 MPa [11] and there was a strength of %930 MPa in UFG Ti fabricated by multiforging and subsequent rolling. [14] There is a report that the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of CP Ti after continuous ECAP plus short-duration annealing was comparable with the as-received sheets [20] and UFG Ti prepared by ECAP þ rolling had a higher strength than Ti-6Al-4V alloys. [21] Recently, a shear drawing technique was developed to fabricate UFG Ti bars and the results showed that the strength was improved to %590 MPa compared with %470 MPa in conventional drawing. A new strategy has been developed to combine the nanotwins and dual‐scale particles into copper matrix composites and the comprehensive properties of Cu‐1Cr‐0.3Zr‐1ZrB2 exhibit excellently with the addition of intermediate aging and cryorolling. The effects of different deformation processes on the evolution of microstructure, room‐temperature and elevated‐temperature mechanical properties are investigated. The result demonstrates that the number of nano‐scale Cr precipitates increases obviously after intermediate aging. The nano‐sized Cr precipitates impede the movement of grain boundaries and dislocations, resulting in the refinement of deformation bands and the dislocation tangle. The combined effect of intermediate aging and cryorolling also improves the formation of nanotwins, which plays an important role in enhancing the tensile strength of composites. The tensile strength, elongation and conductivities of the composites subjected to two‐step cryorolling reaches 653 MPa, 8.02% and 79.51% IACS, respectively, showing an optimum comprehensive property. In addition, the stable nanotwins and the uniform distribution of dual‐scale particles inhibit recrystallization process at elevated temperature, contributing to improving the mechanical behavior at elevated temperature and heat‐resistant performance of composites.This article is protected by copyright.
