The field of organic solar cells has witnessed notable advancements in the past few years, mostly due to the development of novel materials for the active layer. The current investigations reveal the potential of nine previously unexplored molecules (TP1–TP9) designed by end group modification of TPT4F molecule. These molecules were investigated at MPW1PW91/6‐31G (d, p) with DFT and TD‐DFT approach to study the various photovoltaic and geometrical parameters. The results obtained through computations indicated improvement in the investigated parameters. The terminal group modification shifted the absorption maximum towards longer wavelength in the UV‐visible region. Highly conjugated modified acceptors reduced the band gap. The lower excitation energies increased the rate of charge transfer. The designed molecules showed improved excited state lifetime in comparison to the reference. The open circuit voltage was determined using the PTB7 polymer, which exhibited a noticeable improvement, especially in TP1 (1.70 eV), TP3 (1.75 eV), TP4 (1.68 eV), TP6 (1.85 eV), and TP7 (1.75 eV) when compared with reference (1.59 eV). Moreover, charge transfer investigations of designed molecules with PTB7 complex were performed by analyzing the concentration of charge transfer over molecular orbitals, that is, HOMO to LUMO. All of the preceding investigations targeted to achieve high‐efficiency organic cells reveal that the altered molecules can be considered effective candidates to tackle future energy problems.

The rapid development of smart devices and electronic products puts forward higher requirements for power supply components. As a promising solution, hybrid energy harvesters that are based on a triboelectric nanogenerator (HEHTNG) show advantages of both high energy harvesting efficiency and multifunctionality. Aiming to systematically elaborate the latest research progress of a HEHTNG, this review starts by introducing its working principle with a focus on the combination of triboelectric nanogenerators with various other energy harvesters, such as piezoelectric nanogenerators, thermoelectric/pyroelectric nanogenerators, solar cells, and electromagnetic nanogenerators. While the performance improvement and integration strategies of HEHTNG toward environmental energy harvesting are emphasized, the latest applications of HEHTNGs as multifunctional sensors in human health detection are also illustrated. Finally, we discuss the main challenges and prospects of HEHTNGs, hoping that this work can provide a clear direction for the future development of intelligent energy harvesting systems for the Internet of Things.

Organic solar cells (OSCs) hold significant promise as candidates for next‐generation solar technology. Nevertheless, in state‐of‐the‐art OSCs using Y‐series nonfullerene acceptors, it remains challenging to achieve a high power conversion efficiency (PCE) while simultaneously addressing the inherent thermal instability. This study shows a straightforward additive strategy that can effectively accomplish both goals. By introducing 2 wt% commercially available insulating polyphenylene oxide (SA9000), the PCE and thermal stability of Y6‐based solar cells can be simultaneously improved. Atomic force microscopy confirms a slower coarsening process in the film with SA9000 under thermal stress. The investigation indicates that SA9000's success lies in its excellent miscibility with Y6, which can selectively alter electron mobility, resulting in a balance between hole and electron mobility, and also prevents excessive Y6 aggregation at elevated temperatures. This work reveals a selection criterion for commercial and low‐cost insulating materials as an additive to effectively improve the performance and stability of OSCs simultaneously.
