Optimization of supercritical-CO2 extraction and pharmacokinetics in SD rats of alkaloids form Sophora moorcroftiana seed

Abstract: The total alkaloids extracted from the seeds of Sophora moorcroftiana (TAs-SM) have the potential to treat alveolar echinococcosis, a disease included by the WHO in a list of 17 key neglected diseases world-wide. The aims of the current study were first to develop a supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) method for optimizing TAs-SM extraction, and second, to develop an optimized method for evaluating TAs-SM pharmacokinetics in vivo. The Box–Behnken response surface method was used to optimize the extraction pro… Show more

“…Its critical temperature of 31.1 • C is particularly suitable for extracting thermolabile substances, allowing processes to occur at temperatures close to ambient, thereby preserving the integrity of heat-sensitive biological compounds [8]. Focused on Taxus, supercritical CO 2 extraction is renowned for its high selectivity, low-temperature operations preserving thermosensitive substances, and environmental friendliness [9]. These features, coupled with precise control over extraction parameters such as pressure and temperature, make SFE ideal for extracting delicate compounds like taxanes.…”

“…628 Today, the focus is on green technologies and new extraction processes, using complex product mixtures or harmless solvents without 630 High-pressure requirements limit industrial use due to safety constraints, investment, and operating costs compared to conventional processes such as press extraction. 378,631 SFE, on the other hand, uses supercritical CO 2 as a substitute for organic solvents. It is cheap, clean, and capable of delivering solvent-free products.…”
