Fleet assignment and crew scheduling are the most complex airline optimization problems. In this research, an optimized crew pairing set considered as an input, and a crew is chosen for assigning to each certain crew pairing. This paper presents a novel model to integrate fleet assignment and crew scheduling problems. In this model, closed routes for crews and fleet are considered simultaneously. Also, the model considers two consecutive flight legs and some characteristics such as time lag, Minimum permitted time lag and Maximum Economic time. Also, a vibration damping optimization (VDO) algorithm is introduced to find good solution for this problem in a reasonable time. Experimental design based on the Taguchi method is taken into account. To compare the proposed VDO algorithm performance, four designed test problems are solved by proposed VDO and compared with optimal solution and Particle Swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. Then, 10 generated test problems in large scale are solved using VDO and PSO. The results show that in four designed test problems, VDO and PSO solutions have 1.62% and 2.95% gaps in average with optimal solution. Moreover, based on 10 generated test problems, in average VDO give 6.71% better solution in less time compare to PSO.

The time-band approximation model for flight operations recovery following disruption (Bard, Yu, Arguello, IIE Transactions, 33, 931-947, 2001) is constructed by partitioning the recovery period into time bands and by approximating the delay costs associated with the possible flight connections. However, for disruptions occurring in a hub-and-spoke network, a large number of possible flight connections are constructed throughout the entire flight schedule, so as to obtain the approximate optimal. In this paper, we show the application of the simplex group cycle approach to hub-and-spoke airlines in China, along with the related weighted threshold necessary for controlling the computation time and the flight disruption scope and depth. Subsequently, we present the weighted time-band approximation model for flight operations recovery, which incorporates the simplex group cycle approach. Simple numerical experiments using actual data from Air China show that the weighted time-band approximation model is feasible, and the results of stochastic experiments using actual data from Sichuan Airlines show that the flight disruption and computation time are controlled by the airline operations control center, which aims to achieve a balance between the flight disruption scope and depth, computation time, and recovery value.2 Mathematical Problems in Engineering network (representing an airline network) in which the nodes represent the flights and the arcs are the total time losses on individual flights. Hence, a branch and bound procedure was developed to minimize the total passenger delay when an aircraft is grounded. Further, Teodorović and Stojković [3] have introduced a lexicographic dynamic programming approach and a heuristic algorithm to minimize the total passenger delays and the number of cancelled flights. Two minimumcost network flow models to address aircraft shortages have also been introduced by Jarrah et al. [4]. The first is a delay model that allows for flights to be delayed or cancelled, aircraft to be alternated among scheduled flights, or the usage of surplus aircraft to be requested. The second model minimizes the total flight leg cancellation costs by similarly selecting multiple cancellations, employing aircraft substitution, and utilizing spare aircraft. However, accurate flight delay costs can not yet be quickly and easily determined, and the scope and depth of the flight disruption are not considered in the above models. In contrast, delay costs can be approximated with accuracy using the time-band approximation model introduced by Yu et al., which was developed in order to retain the superiority of the resource assignment model and the multicommodity flow model. AGRADECIMENTOS O período deste mestrado praticamente se confunde com o de casado com minha amada esposa Tauane. RESUMO Perturbações na malha aérea ocorrem em todo o mundo e afetam econômica e operacionalmente as empresas aéreas. Em 2016, os gastos que essas perturbações causaram às empresas aéreas e aos seus clientes giraram em torno de US$60 bilhões, cerca de 8% da receita de todas as empresas aéreas do mundo. Este trabalho apresenta uma Heurística Matemática Híbrida, envolvendo otimização por programação inteira mista, para resolver o Problema da Recuperação da Malha Aérea de uma empresa, em até vinte minutos, para uso do Centro de Controle Operacional (CCO) da empresa aérea. A solução consiste em uma nova programação de voos que minimiza os custos da alteração da malha aérea e atenda as restrições impostas por um cenário de múltiplas perturbações, quais sejam: atrasos, cancelamentos de voos, fechamento ou redução de capacidade aeroportuária e manutenções não-programadas. Além da heurística, apresenta-se também um modelo de fluxo em rede com programação inteira para resolver de forma exata o Problema da Recuperação da Malha. Esse modelo obteve resultados em instância de até 500 voos, para todo tipo perturbação, em tempo de execução razoável, exceto para as instâncias em que a capacidade aeroportuária estava muito comprometida. A heurística matemática híbrida apresentou resultados com diferenças de até 5% com relação ao ótimo para as instâncias com até 6000 voos, independentemente do nível de perturbação imposta à malha aérea, com tempo de execução que permite o seu uso prático.
