Optimization of Milling Process by Taguchi-PSI Method

Abstract: 060A4 steel (Chinese standard) is a steel with good machinability, which is very popularly used in mechanical engineering. Therefore, the study of solutions for improvement of quality and productivity when machining this steel type has great technical and economic significance. In this study, the multi-objective optimization process has been performed when milling this steel type on a vertical milling machine. The cutting tool is a face milling cutter made of High Speed Steel (HSS) material. The effect of spin… Show more

“…In [4], when performing 27 tests of milling SCM440 steel, the one with the smallest SR was also the one with the smallest MRR. When performing 9 tests for milling 060A4 steel, the one with the smallest SR is had a very small MRR [5]. Among 27 SKD11 steel milling experiments, the one with the smallest SR almost had the smallest MRR [6], etc.…”

“…Thus, in cases like these it is necessary to define an experiment where SR is considered smallest and MRR is considered maximum, i.e. an MCDM [4][5][6] problem. There are various mathematical methods that support MCDM such as: SAW, WASPAS, TOPSIS, VIKOR, MOORA, COPRAS, PIV, PSI, EDAS, MARCOS, CODAS, WASPAS, WPAS, etc.…”
