Optimization of mechanochemical-assisted extraction and decoloration by resins of polysaccharides from petals of Crocus sativus L

Abstract: Polysaccharide from petals of Crocus sativus (PPCs) was extracted by mechanochemical‐assisted extraction (MCAE) method. The optimization of MCAE conditions was applied by the Response surface methodology. The optimal conditions were as follows: milling for 8.14 min, keeping in the ultrasonic bath at 40 °C with NaOH (0.2 wt %) for 15 min, and the solid/liquid ratio of 1/30 g/mL. Under the conditions, a yield of 28.97% was obtained, which was very consistent with the predicted yield of 29.20%. The decolorization… Show more

“…To verify the feasibility of this strategy, we used turmeric as the target sample and extracted curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcumin based on DESys (Figure S1). Conventionally, when DESs are used to extract natural products from plants, ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), and heating extraction (HE) as well as mechanochemical extraction (MCE) are also used in conjunction. Thus, these methods can also be used for DESys-based extraction. Compared with other methods, MCE can induce a multidirectional simultaneous impact and cause cell destruction because of the use of small ceramic spheres.…”

“…However, only a few metabolites of four types (polysaccharides, alkaloids, lignans and terpenoids) produced by the MFH plant-derived endophytic fungi have been reported to have the same or structurally related to those synthesized by their host plants in the recent five years. Crocus sativus petals are rich in polysaccharides ( Yang et al, 2018 ). Two homogeneous polysaccharides were isolated and purified from petals of C. sativus have been documented for their effects of antioxidant activity, which are potentially important for human health ( He et al, 2021 ).…”
