The effect and optimization of using self-compacting rubberized concrete was studied. Design of experiment using Taguchi method was performed via orthogonal array to accommodate four factors with four levels. These factors were the percentage of fine rubber, coarse rubber, fly ash and viscocrete in the concrete mix. The signaltonoise ratio was used as well as the analysis of variance (ANOVA) to evaluate the characteristics performance of self-compacting rubberized concrete (SCRC). Rubberized concrete can be improved using the concrete proportioned as selfcompacting concrete. The results indicated that a reduction in compressive strength increasing rubber content but there was an increase in impact resistance. However, the replacement of 10% of coarse aggregate with coarserubber gave more strength than that of zero rubber mix by 124% at 90 days. Replacement of 20% of both fine and coarse aggregates with fine and coarse rubber respectively, increased impact resistance by 453% compared to the corresponding SCRC control mix.

In the present scenario, sustainable materials which creates less impact on the environment are the need of the hour. Recycled fine aggregate self‐curing concrete (RFA‐SCRC) can play a significant role in reducing the utilization of natural river sand and also plays a vital role in conserving the water used for curing. This research work deals with the experimental investigations on the compressive strength, flexural strength and split tensile strength of RFA‐SCRC for various replacement proportions of RFAs using ordinary portland cement (OPC) and portland pozzolana cement (PPC) as different variants. The replacement proportions of RFAs considered for this study are 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% to the weight of manufactured sand. Strength optimization was carried out by Taguchi optimization method using Minitab software tool. The parameters considered in this study are the replacement proportion of RFA, type of cement and type of curing. The optimization results indicate that, considering compressive and split tensile strength characteristics, RFA concrete produced using 40% RFA, OPC, and self‐curing process is found to be optimum whereas 30% RFA, OPC, and self‐curing process is found to be optimum with respect to flexural strength characteristics.

The experimental program was undertaken to investigate the performance of different geopolymer bricks (GB) made with different amounts of industrial waste materials by Taguchi method. Taguchi approach (with L16 orthogonal array) was used to design the experimental plan to reduce the number of experiments as well as to analysis the results. Recycled concrete aggregates (RCA), marble powder (MP) and limestone powder (LP) were considered as the main variables (control factors) to develop the sustainable geopolymeric concrete designated for building bricks. Four responses where density, mechanical properties (compressive and flexural strengths) at 28 days age and the percentage of water absorption were conducted. The test results revealed that combining an eminently RAC, MP and LP can produce GB with 28 days compressive strength of about 36-58 MPa with ambient temperature. The RCA was the most influential factors on the performance of GB due to its performance contribution. Furthermore, the GB containing RCA is suitable for environment friendly construction and is comparable to a normal GB made with natural aggregate.
