“…Figure 1e shows that the highest TFC is determined when the extraction time is ranged between 50 and 75 s, and the methanol concentration is 40%. Solvents such as methanol and ethanol are generally used for the extraction of flavonoids (Ngamkhae et al, 2022). Sulaiman et al (2011) also observed that the highest TFC of coriander seed extracts was found using 70% methanol as solvent.…”

“…On the other hand, in the UAE, cavitation is the main mechanism of extraction. The collapse of the bubbles can cause physicochemical and mechanical effects that lead to disruption of the biological membranes to facilitate the release of bioactive ingredients and enhance the penetration of solvents into the materials (Ngamkhae et al, 2022). The different mechanisms between these two extraction techniques could lead to different extraction efficiency.…”

“…In the present study also, recovery of LMW PAHs (NAP, ACY, ACE, FLU, PHE and ANT) through sonication was not satisfactory (only ACY and ACE could be detected (ref. Table 1)) due to, probably, the lower temperature range (25-35 C) of the process (Ngamkhae et al, 2022).…”

“…Homogeneous heating by ionic conduction and thermal agitation due to dipole rotation improved the diffusion of solvent into the sample and stimulated the partitioning of PAHs from the matrix to the extractant (Veggi et al, 2013). Induced heat in MASE caused evaporation of residual moisture present in the sample, creating appreciable intracellular pressure which ruptured the cell walls of the leaf matrix and enhanced the leaching of PAHs (Ngamkhae et al, 2022). Increased solubility of PAHs, solvent dispersion and selectivity because of high temperature also raised the extraction e ciency without degradation of analytes.…”

“…Total methoxyflavone levels increased considerably as ethanol concentration increased (Figure 4A,B). It was discovered that the bioactive methoxyflavone markers of KP rhizomes, PMF, DMF, and PMF, possessed a significant affinity for ethanol due to intermolecular forces [22]. In the interim, the total methoxyflavone concentration increased marginally with increasing extraction time, reaching a maximum at approximately 16.00 min (Figure 4A,C).…”
