Optimization of a User-Involved Interior Layout Recommendation System at the Operation Stage

Abstract: The parametric modelling method, an algorithmic thinking process based on visual programming, is recently established as a supportive tool in the decisionmaking practice for architecture. For the time being, the method helps to inform, control and optimize the architectural design by expressing the input parameters and conditional rules that are generated according to the design objectives. This paper describes how a parametric-model-based recommendation system is developed for an interior floor layout optimiz… Show more

“…The integrated capabilities and functions that can be used during this design workflow, facilitate different tasks used to be complicated in traditional design processes. Computer simulation processes are being integrated into architectural design tools (Attia et al, 2013;Davis, 2013;Wortmann and Schroepfer, 2019), in particular, the computer-aided parametric tools are used to generate, simulate, visualize, and optimize architectural outputs (Camporeale, 2013;Yang et al, 2015;Wen, Daher and Kubicki, 2020). These integrated capabilities -used together or separated-allow the possibility for a customization following the needs.…”
