Optimization Design of the Clinch Stud using the Finite Element Analysis and the Taguchi Method

Abstract: This study derives the optimal conditions for design parameters of clinch stud with high torque resistance and bonding force by using FE simulation and Taguchi method. Maximum forming load and filled rate of material are considered as objective functions. Height and depth of groove with diameter and depth of lobe are chosen as design parameters.
