Optimising parameters for galvanostatic polyaniline coating on nanostructured bainitic steel

Abstract: In this study, polyaniline was coated on a nanostructured bainitic steel to improve the corrosion resistance of the steel. A galvanostatic method with current density varied from 1-20 mA cm −2 was used for synthesising and coating polyaniline on the nanostructured bainitic steel. The electrochemical experiments showed that the polyaniline coating formed using 5 mA cm −2 exhibited the highest protection as compared to that formed at other current densities, which can be attributed to the low porosity in 5 mA cm… Show more

“…However, it is difficult to lubricate WC-Co protective surface coatings, and this difficulty somewhat limits their broader application. In the past, many efforts have been focused on WC-Co coatings lubricated with oils in various environments [3,4]. Unfortunately, the inherent shortcomings of conventional lubricating oils, such as low boiling points, high vapour pressures, and low load-carrying capacities, hinder their practical application for lubricating thermally sprayed WC-Co cermet coatings.…”

“…However, steel tends to be corroded in the atmospheric condition causing the consuming of material resources with the gradual deterioration of ecological environment. [1][2][3] Over the course of the past 30 years, intense research efforts have been devoted into the improvement of the corrosion resistance of various forms of carbon steel. All kinds of strategies in particular coating technologies have been proposed to extend the life time of steel constructions and medical implants.…”
