“…In the case of PZ, and its cheapest observed Passive House scenario, the difference between Passive House and building that meets the legal minimum is an alarming 31.4%. More unfavourable cases can be found in the literature, for example [14] stated that reaching the Passive House standard in Brazil requires additional investments in the range of 39% to 42%.…”

“…The challenges posed by the local market and climate conditions (that are rather different than those prevailing in the most developed EU countries) have been addressed by a number of works. After studying the application of the Passive House concept in social housing in Brazil [14], the authors concluded that it is possible to apply Passive House standard to southern Brazilian climate conditions, with a great reduction of energy consumed. The concept could be economically viable only in one out of three bioclimatic zones, and in that one having the payback period just a bit shorter than the estimated dwelling's life cycle.…”

“…Os resultados evidenciam variação de características construtivas ideais de acordo com os climas locais. De maneira similar, Dalbem et al (2019) evidenciam a necessidade de se adequar as HIS aos climas locais e apresentam a possibilidade de incluir critérios passivos de concepção de habitações inseridas em climas do sul do Brasil. Além da preocupação quanto ao desempenho das edificações atuais, a literatura também evidencia a necessidade de se considerar os cenários climáticos futuros a fim de determinar o desempenho das habitações.…”

“…Thus, Passivhaus could provide a useful guide to support the development of energy-efficient housing in Chile. However most of the studies are focused on the technical aspects, benefits of thermal comfort, and energy performance while approaches based on the costs associated with the construction of a Passivhaus are scarce [31,32]. Some authors have mentioned that economic aspects represent the greatest challenge for the application of the Passivhaus standard [33,34] and this challenge must be addressed individually in each country because the costs are not comparable between countries.…”
