The energy-aware MAC protocol is the basic communication protocol for device-to-device communication in sensor-cloud computing and facilitates data sensing, computing, and sharing for applications. Transmitting highpriority data to control centers quickly to manage emergencies is essential for sensor-cloud applications. In this paper, a Dynamic Wait time-based MAC (DWT-MAC) protocol is proposed for data differentiated services of a sensor-cloud system (SCS). The DWT-MAC protocol is novel in that it changes the receiver wait time, which has been fixed in previous MAC protocols, and it reduces the delay in data transmission by dynamically adjusting the wait time. In the DWT-MAC protocol, the wait time changes according to the number of senders, which can ensure that it always approaches the optimal value. A dynamic time adjustment algorithm, which causes the wait time to always trail the optimal value, is proposed to reduce delays. While the DWT-MAC protocol cannot ensure wait times of the optimal value, it can ensure that it quickly comes close to the optimal value, which is suitable for dynamically changing networks. Extensive experiments show that the DWT-MAC protocol reduces the average delay in the transmission of data of the highest priority by 49.3%.

This paper investigates the performance limitation of multi-input multi-output (MIMO) networked control systems (NCSs). The communication channel is modeled as a power constrained channel with channel noise and the bandwidth constraints. The optimal performance index of the system is expressed by the covariance of the reference input signal and the system output error signal. Some new results about MIMO NCSs are obtained by co-prime factorization, inner-outer factorization and spectral decomposition techniques. The results demonstrate that the tracking performance depends on the non-minimum phase zeros, unstable poles and their directions. At the same time, the network communication parameters constraints, energy constraints and the essential feature of reference input signal also restrict the performance. Some illustrative examples are presented to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed methods. INDEX TERMS Bandwidth constrains, channel noise, communication channels, performance limitation.

In this paper, the modified performance limitation of multi‐input multi‐output (MIMO) wireless networked time‐delay systems over fading channels is investigated, where the characteristic of the fading channels is assumed to be a random process. The modified tracking performance limitation is considered based on frequency domain representation. The display expressions of performance limitation are achieved by using the co‐prime factorization and the spectral decomposition techniques. The obtained results show that the modified performance limitation of the wireless networked time‐delay systems is related to the inherent characteristics of the given plant, including the non‐minimum phase zeroes, the unstable poles, the encoding‐decoding, the fading channels, the bandwidth and the modified factor. Finally, some numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed design method.
