Optimal SWIPT in RIS-Aided MIMO Networks

Abstract: The use of simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) is a key enabler of achieving convenience and prolonging the energy supply lifetime of wireless networks. To address the low efficiencies of far-field power transfer, a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) is adopted to enhance the energy harvesting (EH) performance, which can construct a favorable wireless propagation environment. In this paper, we consider an RIS-assisted SWIPT system with wireless transfer from the access point (AP)… Show more

“…To be specific, when the distance between the transmitter and receiver is relatively large, the efficiency of wireless power transfer will be dramatically reduced by the large-scale path loss. To overcome the above weekness, the integration of SWIPT technique with emerging communication technologies, such as reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS), has been explored [34].…”

“…The authors of [10] investigated a passive RISaided SWIPT system and showed that the passive RIS can enhance the data rates at the information receivers (IRs), while ensuring the minimum power requirements of the received power at the energy receivers (ERs). In [11], the authors studied an optimization problem of maximizing the minimum rate of the IRs in the passive RIS-aided SWIPT system with imperfect channel state information (CSI). And the authors of [12] aimed to maximize the data rate by proposing a joint time-switching and phase-shifting solution for passive RIS-assisted SWIPT communications.…”
