Optimal Su-Do-Ku based interconnection scheme for increased power output from PV array under partial shading conditions

Abstract: Partial shading is a common phenomenon in PV arrays. They drastically reduce the power output because of mismatch losses, which are reliant on the shape of the shade as well as the locations of shaded panels in the array. The power output can be improved by distributing the shade over various rows to maximize the current entering the node. A Su-Do-Ku configuration can be used to rearrange the physical locations of the PV modules in a total cross tied PV array with the electrical connections left unchanged. How… Show more

“…In dynamic reconfiguration physical location of the panel remains the same but electrical connection are changed. In static reconfiguration technique, physical location of the PV modules in TCT configuration are changed within array on the basis of mathematical puzzle like Sudoku [28], [29], optimal sudoku [30], [31], magic square puzzle [32], dominance square [33], skyscraper puzzle [34]. Tatabhatla et al, 2019, reconfigured the conventional TCT array used arrow sudoku puzzle pattern which a variant of original sudoku puzzle.…”

“…In ref. 30 , 31 , the Su Do Ku approach has a wide variety of physical PV array reconfigurations. However, it still has a slight drawback that the first column's value is constant, thus submatrix formation and execution consume long time.…”

“…Over the years, several researchers have extensively covered the different methods of array reconfigurations, both physical array reconfiguration (PAR) and electrical array reconfiguration (EAR). Various techniques for PAR such as Sudoku, 17 optimal Sudoku, 18,19 Futoshiki puzzle, 20 Magic Square, 15,21 Dominance square, 22 Latin Square, 23 Odd‐even configuration, 24 Baker map technique, 25 Skyscraper puzzle‐based configuration 26 and Lo Shu technique 27 have been proposed in literature in the past decade. These techniques are derived from specific puzzles or adequate positioning algorithms.…”
