Optimal placement and sizing of distributed generations using shuffled bat algorithm with future load enhancement

Abstract: Summary In this paper, a new and efficient hybrid optimization algorithm is proposed for optimal placement and sizing of the distributed generations (DGs). Bus voltage profile improvement, line flow capacity, and active and reactive power loss minimization are considered as multi‐objectives to optimize under‐distribution load enhancement. The addition of multi‐DGs to the distribution system, which is already having DGs, is studied under increased load demand. Renewable energy resources such as wind, solar, fue… Show more

“…4 These issues divert the attention of distribution system planners towards distributed generation (DG) and distributed static compensator (DSTATCOM). [6][7][8][9] On the contrary, to enhance the stability and power quality, DSTATCOM is also used in radial distribution system (RDS) that can automatically compensate the reactive power according to system's variable load. “…[6][7][8][9][10][11] However, in the past few years, there is a present trend of increasing the penetration level of DG into the system to reduce the grid dependency, which brings various power quality and operational issues to the existing power grid. “…The power grid suffers significant changes because of increasing energy demand. Distributed generations (DGs), such as photovoltaics (PV), wind turbine (WT), micro‐turbines (MT), and fuel cells (FC) are important components of power supply systems . The concept of microgrid (MG) solves the problem for high penetration of DGs to effectively combine DGs with loads and utility.…”
