Optimal Observer Trajectory for Towed Sonar in Bearings-Only Tracking

Abstract

Abstract. The unique constraints for the mother ship of towed sonar in bearings-only tracking is that it cann't maneuver frequently because during maneuvering and a certain time after maneuvering, the bearing measurements are not available. The maneuvering trajectories of the mother ship will greatly affect the locating and tracking accuracy. The least square method for estimating the motion parameters of the target is described. By considering these unique constraints, a genetic algorithm based on least squre method is adopted to optimize the observer trajectory. Simulation result shows the validity of the method.
