Optimal Load Shedding Strategy for Selçuk University Power System with Distributed Generation

Abstract: Traditionally under frequency relays and PLCs (programmable logic controller) are used for load shedding. Recently, these methods have been combined with smart power management systems to shed load automatically. These combined systems are the best methods. However, shedding exact amount of load is almost impossible, because it usually ends up with excessive or inadequate load shedding at feeders where it becomes necessary to sustain system stability. Disconnecting a certain amount of loads at a feeder is defi… Show more

“…The possibility of building a microgrid on campus was also analyzed. The article [34] presents a strategy for reducing demand so that Selcuk University Medical Faculty buildings can operate in island mode. Staying on the topic of European universities, another issue analyzed was how to reduce emissions while maintaining economic indicators and using multiple energy carriers.…”

“…The positions are chosen using a multi-objective function, and the NVSI is designed to optimise voltage stability while reducing demand on the power system. The best load shed for balancing generation and demand at Selçuk university medical faculty is provided in [10]. With generating shortages, a hybrid solution employing evolutionary algorithms and artificial neural networks is proposed to reduce load shed and increase voltage stability [11].…”

“…The algorithm generates two-layer outputs that decide loads to be shed on load cluster and number of loads. The method minimizes the load shed in comparison to conventional UFLS in [22]. The distribution state estimator in [23] measures the power consumption on each bus using historical data and load flow analysis.…”
