Optimal cutting parameter specification of newly designed milling tools based on the frequency monitoring

Abstract: The article deals with the specification of the most suitable machining parameters for three newly designed end mills in the term of stability of the deep groove machining, at which the depth of cut is minimally twice higher the diameter of the cutter. Online vibration analysis was selected as a tool for goal achievement. The partial objective of the first phase of experimental research was to set the boundary conditions of vibrodiagnostics at the specification of the behaviour of three commercially produced m… Show more

“…[1], [2], [3] In the 1980s, a massive introduction of CA systems (computer-aided systems) proved to be an effective step in reducing costs, shortening the TPP (technical preparation of production) and increasing the efficiency of TPP stages [4]. The engineering calculations, analyses, modeling and design documentation became streamlined and accelerated [5]. Presently, there is pressure to design projects and use elements and project management methodologies which would enable planning and management of all processes and stages related to launching new products on the market and significantly reduce the duration of TPP stages [6], [7].…”

“…Thus, recourse to the use of mathematical modeling tools (analytical, numerical, etc.) for the prediction of cutting tool/matter behavior becomes essential [2][3][4]. These prediction tools are only relevant if they are rigorously constructed and fed with reliable experimental data reflecting the reality of this cutting process [5,6].…”
