Optimal Cutting and Filling Height for Canal Length

Abstract: Transfer canals convey the water from source to destination for further use at downstream. Canal runs in partial or complete cutting, filling or combination of both when the natural slope and canal slope are not same. If the canal runs only in excavation it leads to construction related problems. Similarly if the canal is in filling then huge quantity of borrow earth is required from borrow area near the canal.
