Optimal coefficient of the share of cogeneration in the district heating system cooperating with thermal storage

Abstract: The paper presents the results of optimizing the coefficient of the share of cogeneration expressed by an empirical formula dedicated to designers, which will allow to determine the optimal value of the share of cogeneration in contemporary cogeneration systems with the thermal storages feeding the district heating systems. This formula bases on the algorithm of the choice of the optimal coefficient of the share of cogeneration in district heating systems with the thermal storage, taking into account additiona… Show more

“…At this point two additional remarks have to be mentioned. First of all, the system effects of primary energy reduction connected with cogeneration should be investigated for the CHP plants that have been already internally optimized, e.g., by means of the coefficient of the share of cogeneration [21]. Secondly, the proposed within the paper methodology concerning heat losses during the transmission of heat can only be used for the centralized cogeneration systems, thus within the wide range of small-scale cogeneration solution (e.g., micro-CHP based on the gas boiler with ORC module [22]) the presented approach cannot be applied.…”

“…Fazlollahi et al [8] have proposed a procedure for optimization in DH on the stage of design and operation. Ziębik and Gładysz [9] have proposed an empirical formula for determination of the optimal value of the share of cogeneration in cogeneration systems with thermal storages. There are many works about optimization and controlling seasonal storages (STES) [10,11].…”
