Optics of Perovskite Solar Cell Front Contacts

Abstract: The front contact has a major impact on the electrical and optical properties of perovskite solar cells. The front contact is part of the junction of the solar cell and must provide lateral charge transport to the terminals and should allow for an efficient light incoupling, while having low optical losses. The complex requirements of the perovskite solar front contact will be described and the optics of the front contact will be investigated. It will be shown that the front contact has a distinct influence on… Show more

“…For example, such textures can be fabricated by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). [42] A detailed description of the realization of such metal oxide front contacts is provided in the literature. [42] However, other fabrication methods can be used as well, like sputtering, in combination with wet chemical etching or pulse layer deposition.…”

“…14 The charge transporting/blocking layers must exhibit a suitable work function, a high lateral conductivity, low absorption losses, and ideally support the incoupling of light in the solar cell. 14,15 Recently, promising results have been demonstrated by using inorganic metal oxides (zinc oxide (ZnO), nickel oxide (NiO)) as charge transport layers for the implementation of PSCs. 9,16,17 The materials fulll several of the requirements.…”
