Optical properties of SrMoO3 thin film

Abstract: We used an rf magnetron reactive sputtering method to prepare SrMoO3 thin film on a silica glass substrate and evaluated its optical properties. The reflectivity of the blue-colored film showed a cutoff due to plasmon at ∼1.7 eV. From a Kramers–Kronig analysis of the reflectivity, the spectral dependence of dielectric constants and optical constants were obtained. They agreed in tendency with the constants determined by spectroscopic ellipsometry. The plasma frequency due to free carriers (4.5 eV) was obtained… Show more

“…As we discuss in more detail later, we believe that these structures are due to plasmon satellite. The energy of ∼ 2 eV coincides closely with the plasma frequency reported in the measurements of reflectivity 27 . Figure 2 (a) shows the valence-band photoemission spectrum of the SrMoO 3 thin film.…”

“…Whereas more work will be needed to clarify this conclusively, we believe the most natural explanation is that it is a plasmon satellite. The plasma edge in the optical experiments 27 is indeed at about 2 eV, and we stress again that the satellite structures are seen also in all the core levels. Influence of plasmons in core-level photoemission spectra was observed in simple metals like Mg 32,33 and conducting oxides like Na x WO 3 34 and K 0.3 MoO 3 35 .…”

“…The low electric resistivity [2] makes it an attractive material for electrodes. The electrical and optical studies have been presented in previous papers [3][4][5][6]. But other properties on the bulk materials have scarcely been reported until now.…”

“…Recent works reported that glass sputtered with ceramic thin film is functionally used as magnetic/electronic device materials (Ref 1-3) as well as optical ones ( Ref 1,[4][5][6][7]. In functional and/or mechanical applications of coated glass materials, serious damages, which may be caused by unexpected forces in anomalous operations or the inconsistency in their equipping, are anticipated.…”
